Friday 7 may 2010

Today Friday, the second day of the meeting, the Danish, the Italian and the German students have met in the Tecnology Department for do a "Mossaic". The Catalans students had normal lessons and they coudn't participate in the activity.

To do the mossaic they have caught some types of tiles (different colours) , and then they have broken them. After that, thay have pasted the pieces of the tiles in the ceramic.

The draw of the mossaic was the logo of COMENIUS. And, after work all the morning, we can say that the artwork is fantastic.

This meeting compared with the Denmark meeting

This meeting went very similar, although there where more people involved in the Denmark meeting. We made sun ovens and me made a competition out of it. There were people who failed making warmwater using the sun, and some who succeded. In this meeting every group made a working product/experiment.

And as always, the hardest problem was the comunication.

Thursday 6 may 2010

We the happy LESET group gathered today in Les Borges to make some windmills, and we did!

First we started by watching some videos on youtube for inspiration. Then we sat down to draw some schematics. After all the ideas were on the table - and even on paper- we were devided into 3 groups consisting of Italian, Catalan, German, and Danish people.

First group:
They experimented with materials. First they built a Plastic windmill, and then try the same principle with paper and some iron thread. Even though the windmill of paper wasn't as strong as the plastic one, it worked really well.

Second group:
They made a large plastic windmill, and tried to gear it a little bit with on big wheel, some string, and a little wheel. They had some trouble with the string continuously falling off the wheel that connected the mill to the generator, so they did not se the effect of their windmill. they did however se that the design worked.

Third group:
They designed a windmill where the generator was in the head of the windmill. using some bottle plastic, some sticks, and a lot of glue they made a windmill. they tested it with a compressor and it rotated so quickly that the wind were flung of the windmill, but with a lot more glue the fixed and tested it proberly.

In conclusion we learned that everyday objects like bottles, wood, and even paper works pefectly for windmills. They are very easy to built. We can produce energy free, not much in these scales but we only built them 20 cm tall. We also learned that the hardest part of these meetings are comunicating, but as you can se we maneged to work together perfectly using our hands and body language.
